The exchange of information gets more and more important and also users with a vision impairment participate in social networks and browse the web more and more by mobile phones and tablets.
The developments on assistive technology for blind and visually impaired made a tremendous progress in last years so that the provision of information and communication for ICC participants is now possible not only via computer and notebook but using a mobile phone as well. Profiting from this we have worked hard and can now say "ICC - There’s an app for that."

The ICC app provides information about the ICC in general, the latest news about the camp as well as all interesting informations for the current year. Participants as well as any interested person have access to detailed descriptions of activities, workshops and the organization of the ICC. They can browse the picture gallery and on maps see where to find what in the surrounding.

Of course, as ICC is primarily aimed to the visual impaired and blind the app is supporting VoiceOver. Every user has the possibility in the settings panel to choose his/her personal combination of background and text color as well as the font size to improve the readability.

About The ICC camp

The idea to organise Camps on Communication and Computers for blind and partially sighted students is simple - and this simplicity seems to be its power:

ICC aims at making young blind and partially sighted students aware on the benefits of efficiently using Information and Communication Technology as well as Assistive Technologies, what skills are a "must", where to put efforts to enhance technical as well as social skills and the level of mobility,Also ICC supports students in finding a decision for their educational and vocational paths and motivates an early and profound preparation before starting. And it is an excellent opportunity to make contact with partially sighted and blind peers from other countries and to exchange interests and experiences and build up social networks.

After almost 20 years, ICC is still an encouraging and promising event with camps in 14 countries and participants from europe as well as the United States, Japan and Africa. Since the ICC camp was started in 1994 about 1700 participants led and guided by 1300 experts took part already.

More information about the camp, the app and our work at ICC you can find on our website http://www.icc-camp.info.
